The Government, having finalized the bill on
pension reform, proposes limiting the maximum pension to 10 subsistence
minimums instead of the current 12. This was announced at a press
briefing by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Social Policy Serhiy
Tihipko.
In his opinion, the restriction
must relate to the already fixed pensions. The Constitutional Court
will decide how legitimate such a step is, Tihipko said. He reminded
that the maximum pension limit is practiced by most EU countries.
In particular, he cited the example of Austria, where this ratio is maximum 5. "There (in Astra - ed.), the minimum pension may not differ from the maximum more than 5 times. We are suggesting 10," the government member said.
As reported, by January 1, the cost of living in Ukraine amounted to UAH 941, and from December 1 it will be UAH 1,004 (1 USD - 7.97 UAH).
