MPs must provide information on their incomes to those who are interested, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said Monday answering journalists' question when all MPs will be able to publish their income statements, UKRINFORM reported.

"In order that MPs do not shift this function to the office of the Verkhovna Rada, they can provide such information (information about incomes) to those who are interested. In other cases, we must ask the deputy if it is ok if we fulfill the law on combating corruption, which I hope will come into force upon signature by the President of Ukraine," Lytvyn explained.

He pointed out that if the deputy or any other public official has revenues in excess of wages, he/she must file a declaration of residence to the tax office and, accordingly, one can also ask the tax office about the incomes of one or another MP or public servant.

The parliament chairman expressed hope that in the near future the Verkhovna Rada will decide how to make public the declarations of people's deputies.
