The leaders of European countries who attended the 27th CEE heads of state summit in Warsaw have common views on the European future of Ukraine, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski has said, UKRINFORM reported.

"The idea is to create chances for Ukraine's rapprochement with the integrated western world, with Europe," Komorowski said.

He said that that some pessimistic statements had not proved true and that Ukraine was not the subject of discussion at the summit, but its active participant. "There were far-fetched statements concerning Ukraine's meeting the requirements of European integration and the issues of Polish-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-U.S. relations in the important issue of developing democracy in this country," Komorowski said, adding that Warsaw took it with satisfaction and as "Poland's significant commitment to continuing to work on Ukraine's approximation to the standards of the Western world."

In Warsaw, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych took part in a working lunch on behalf of President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski in honor of the Heads of States participating in the 17th Central Europe Summit. Before the lunch Yanukovych had a brief conversation with President of the United States Barack Obama.
