The National Forum of Trade Unions of Ukraine estimated that the minimum wage and pension in this country should be at least 3,800-3,900 UAH (1 USD - 7.98 UAH), UKRINFORM reported.

According to NFTU Chairman Myroslav Yakibchuk, the current calculations of the cost of living and minimum wage are held under an outdated system and at the old prices. Intentions of the authorities to bring before the end of the year the minimum wage to 1,004 UAH are unable to fill the food basket of ordinary Ukrainians.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, said he believes that due to over-fulfillment of the state budget, in the second half of this year the level of salaries and pensions should be reconsidered.

As reported, on May 18, the Parliament rejected the draft decree on increasing living and minimum wage in 2011.
