The Kyiv authority expects till 2025 to increase the number of tourists in the capital approximately twofold to 2.6 million persons at the minimum. According to calculations, income of Kyiv from tourism will grow to UAH 12 billion (1 USD - 7.98 UAH).
"Today, to the capital (with population of almost 3 million) annually 1 million tourists come, which is considerably lower against indexes of other East European capitals. By 2025, we intend to fundamentally raise attractiveness of Kyiv as tourist and cultural center and to considerably increase profits from the tourist sector to the city economy," Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov noted, UKRINFORM reported.
In order to raise tourist attractiveness of Kyiv, a number of measures will be taken, including advertisement campaigns and putting into exploitation 500-700 hotel rooms a year. In total, the register of rooms should be 18,000 (presently, Kyiv accounts for 10,000 hotel rooms).
Another task, which needs to be solved, is an increase of the time for tourists' stay in Kyiv.
Participants in the Public Council for working out the strategy for Kyiv development also propose to actively develop the city cultural environment. In particular, experts propose similarly to the Silicon Valley to create in Kyiv the Cultural Valley in Kyiv - a center for development of creativity and art of the world level.
