The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has ruled that the resolution of the Prosecutor General’s Office on opening a criminal case against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko over the 2009 gas agreements was legal.

The verdict was announced by Judge Halyna Surprun after a three-day review of Yulia Tymoshenko’s complaint.

"Every citizen of Ukraine can now see how criminal cases and court decisions are falsified in Ukraine. Our goal is to prove that the courts are dependent and unjust. Our goal is to lodge real complaints on the international level, with international courts and prove that in Ukraine there is political repression, trumped-up cases and verdicts and, in essence, no justice," Yulia Tymoshenko was cited by her official website.

Members of parliament that were in the courtroom began shouting "Shame!" while the judge was reading the verdict.
