Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has asked the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv to issue a separate ruling on opening a criminal case against the investigator of the Prosecutor General's Office who, ignoring the laws, launched a criminal investigation against the former premier on the basis of trumped-up facts.

"I would ask, Madam Judge, that you review my petition regarding Mr. Nechvohlod’s crime and issue a separate ruling on opening a criminal case against him. Because such falsifiers much be punished," Yulia Tymoshenko said during today’s hearing.

According to her, all expert assessments by the current government, in particular the Ministry of Justice, which is headed by Oleksandr Lavrynovych, a representative of the ruling party, against directives issues by Yulia Tymoshenko for conducting negotiations between Naftohaz Ukrainy and Russia’s Gazprom can’t be regarded as government directives according to the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

"This criminal case isn't just political repression aimed at removing Yanukovych’s opponent, it's meant to cover up the crimes committed by RosUkrEnergo after the new government came to power," Yulia Tymoshenko believes.

Judge Halyna Suprun, who is presiding over the hearing, after debates by both parties, announced a break until 2 p.m. to decide the outcome of Yulia Tymoshenko's appeal.
