Ukraine should take its proper and worthy place on international food markets, because all over the world there is great demand for food and agricultural products, Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said during his working visit to Crimea, according to National radio.

"There will be great demand for food, as evidenced by statements from world organizations. The Ministry's task will be to ensure that our country does not miss this chance," he stated, adding that the world will still find the way to eliminate the current shortage of products.

Mr Prysiazhniuk noted that the return to the system of consumer cooperatives should be one of the main tasks for the near future to ensure food security within the state. The Minister admitted that a large amount of vegetables, fruits, milk and meat was currently produced in Ukraine in the private sector. In this connection, the state needs the organized system of procurement, from manufacturers to the delivery of products to consumers.
