Speaking at his joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Viktor Yanukovych said that the fact that the Odesa-Brody pipeline has finally started working effectively proves effective development of partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
"The Odesa-Brody pipeline has finally started working. We certainly lack its extension to the Baltic Sea, and we should probably think about how to solve this problem soon. We have discussed that with Ilham Aliyev. We will work hard to make this pipeline reach the Baltic Sea," Viktor Yanukovych said.
He said that both Ukraine and Azerbaijan are well aware that they should realize the opportunities they have.
The President drew particular attention to the growth of the economy of Azerbaijan. According to him, "is a good example for us of how the system of government can work effectively under the condition of suffering no sudden change in the domestic or foreign policy. Stability is the foundation of state development."
Viktor Yanukovych said that during today's talks the sides have discussed almost the entire range of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan. "We have discussed the mechanism for realizing our common plans," he said.
The President expressed confidence that our countries continue to develop their friendly relations successfully. "We would be mistaken not setting the objective to raise the level of the economy having such an enormous potential today," he said.
For its part, the Azerbaijani President said: "I am pleased that the visit is very successful."
According to Ilham Aliyev, today’s talks have demonstrated again the closeness of our countries and peoples. "Today, the friendly relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan are at a new stage of development. They are marked by dynamism and mutual desire to develop our relations in all directions ," he said, drawing particular attention to the active political dialogue between both countries.
