Ukrainian patriotic forces must used all measures available to denounce the Kharkiv agreements that were ratified on April 27, 2010, Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said, according to the official website.

"Patriotic political parties should take all necessary steps to ensure that April 27, 2017 is the last day the Russian fleet is on Ukrainian land. We are calling on all patriotic forces to join efforts and conduct a national campaign on the abolishment of occupying agreements and clear our land of foreign military bases," says the resolution of the civic-political assembly against Russian military bases on Ukrainian territory "Russian Black Sea Fleet must leave Ukraine April 27, 2010!" that was signed by Yulia Tymoshenko.

Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized that the Kharkiv agreements were signed and ratified in violation of Ukrainian and international laws. "The Constitution of Ukraine was grossly violated. It clearly states that foreign military bases are not permitted on the territory of Ukraine. The so-called ’ratification’ took place in flagrant violation of the rules of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This agreement contradicts the spirit and letter of numerous international agreements that define Ukraine’s European perspective," she said.

"Because of the presence of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Ukraine risks being dragged into international conflicts, as could have happened during the Russian aggression against Georgia in August 2008. On the backdrop of this, the plans of the current government to allow Russia to rearm the Black Sea Fleet, thereby significantly strengthening its military capacity, are absolutely irresponsible. We demand that the 1997 agreements by fulfilled, which prohibit the rearming of the Russian fleet," says the resolution.

Yulia Tymoshenko has also said that the Kharkiv agreements threaten Ukraine’s socioeconomic interests. "Instead of forcing Russia to pay a fair price for leasing our land, the government has driven the country into another financial trap. ‘Cheap’ gas ended up 50% more expensive. Ordinary people today are paying for the ridiculous actions by the government. Such are the social consequences of the ‘rescue’ of the economy based on the formula of this anti-Ukrainian government," she stressed.

"Anti-Ukrainian agreements must be denounced. Only this can mitigate the unavoidable responsibility of the government for its actions to the detriment of Ukraine. We demand that the Verkhovna Rada review without delay and support the draft law submitted by the opposition. We demand that the president of Ukraine, as the guarantor of the Constitution, demand strict compliance with its provisions. The Russian government must remember that the Black Sea Fleet has no future in Crimea. The Ukrainian people will not forgive anyone for betraying their national interests!" says the resolution.
