The government must do everything for soon restoration of historical monuments on the UNESCO World Heritage List, President Viktor Yanukovych said in Lviv during an expanded meeting of the Regional Committee on Economic Reforms, dedicated to the development of sports and tourist infrastructure to implement “Olympic Hope 2022” national project.
Replying to a question of journalists, the President stressed there are currently 95 such monuments in Lviv.
President Yanukovych said that all the works to restore historical and cultural sites have to be done until 2012, when thousands of tourists will visit Ukraine in connection with the finals of Euro 2012.
"I have raised the level of responsibility of all the officials involved in this process: from the Ministry of Finance, the Treasury, and to builders and supervisory agencies. This chain of authorities must meet the schedule and the UNESCO protocol 100 %," Viktor Yanukovych stressed.
