Answering reporters’ questions in Singapore about the criminal case opened against former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, President Viktor Yanukovych said: "This is a quite natural process. Professionals, experts, lawyers, find nothing strange in it, there is no news in this case for them."
The President stressed that answers must be found already to questions that have been dragged out over more than a decade. "There is a rumor, that this process is turning political, but only rumor that is," Viktor Yanukovych stressed.
"Certainly, Leonid Kuchma is unhappy. No one would envy him in the situation, but it is necessary to get this over with already... It is necessary to provide answer to this question already and live on," he said.
The Head of State expressed confidence that all the i’s in this matter will be dotted by the court.
"Only a court can give an answer, because we believe that in a legal
state, which we are trying to build, no one can be blamed or condemned
until the trial is over," he said.
