Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko believes the criminal case against former President Leonid Kuchma is futile.
"I believe nothing will come of this. They’ll drag it out and this will end in nothing. This isn’t justice or real punishment of those guilty of the murder of Gongadze. It’s simply a diversion," Yulia Tymoshenko said during an interview Saturday on Channel 5.
"The case involving Kuchma serves many functions for Yanukovych: first and foremost – to distract public attention from the poverty and problems that he has created. Second – I don’t rule out that they’ll put pressure on Pinchuk and his television channels – ICTV, STB, Novy Kanal. And of course they’ll mask political repression in Ukraine with scandalous cases that will end in nothing," she added.
