Social standards in our country should be increased and made backed up by adequate financial resources already this year, President Viktor Yanukovych has said speaking at the meeting of the Governing Council of the Committee on Economic Reforms, presidential press office reported.

According to the President, primary task in this direction is speeding up deregulation, as it can dramatically revitalize the economy, increase investment and ensure GDP growth.

Viktor Yanukovych said that if deregulation is conducted properly, we can expect such significant effects as additional GDP growth by 2% and budgetary revenue increase by at least 6 billion UAH already next year.

"In 2010 we have done a lot in the area of deregulation. However, its success would have been more significant and convincing, if the reforms had been deeper, and their implementation faster," Viktor Yanukovych said.

"I must admit that in certain directions the movement has slowed down today. I mean the reform of permit system, technical regulation and simplification of business registration. We need to strengthen this direction, as investors expect us to. We had promised them that," the President added.

"We all understand that further development of the economy requires additional financial resources, but most importantly – common people must feel that the improvement of economic and financial situation is not limited to macroeconomic reports," Viktor Yanukovych said.

The issues to be considered at this meeting are urgent, Viktor Yanukovych said. "After all, expansion of the resource base of public finance, efficiency of their use, and search for additional reserves are in the core of the tasks we have set in the formation of our economy," he said.
