Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Vitali Klitschko has defended his WBC world heavyweight title in a fight against Odlanier Solis of Cuba, UKRINFORM reported.

Klitschko knocked out Solis at the last second of the first round. The 39-year-old only needed one shot to finish the bout, as he caught Solis on the temple with a grazing right hand near the end of the round. The blow didn't appear to be capable of producing a one-punch knockout, but the off-balance Solis wrenched his knee and couldn't beat the count.

After the fight, Klitschko said he was disappointed that the fight ended so quickly. "I didn't hope that everything would end so quickly," he said.

Thus, the elder Klitschko won a 42nd victory in his professional career (39 Kos).

This is the first defeat for Solis in his professional career. Before that, he won all 17 fights (12 KOs).

The bout was held at the Lanxess Sports Arena in Cologne, which seats 19,000 spectators.
