The parliamentary opposition will demand that an alternative package of anti-corruption laws be adopted, Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said.

"Our team in parliament has introduced three anti-corruption laws that were written in consultation with GRECO – a European structure that works to systematically fight corruption," Yulia Tymoshenko told reporters today before her latest visit to the Prosecutor General’s Office, according to her official website.

Yulia Tymoshenko added that the opposition’s anti-corruption bills were coordinated with civil society. "These laws truly create obstacles to corruption. What the ruling team today proposed is, unfortunately, more concealing of corruption, more an indulgence for major corruption by senior officials in this country," she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko believes the anti-corruption laws proposed by the government are aimed at finding corruption among average citizens. "In the absence of justice they want to make every average citizen corrupt, while giving senior officials the right to do everything they want and take everything they want. That is why we will defend our bills and do everything we can to make the fight against corruption in Ukraine real, not decorative and declarative," she added.
