Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko considers unacceptable the
lack of response by law enforcement authorities to the results of
investigative reports related to abuses by the current government and
the regional power hierarchy.
"They are now trying to move the entire center of attention towards such artificial, groundless criminal cases, and close their eyes to the situation that is happening today in Ukraine," Yulia Tymoshenko said during a live broadcast on the First National Channel, Tymoshenko's the official website reported.
Yulia Tymoshenko noted that she was referring to a transfer of 150 million UAH from the Stabilization Fund to the account of a company owned by Mykola Azarov’s son to construct ice covers, 320 million UAH to a company belonging to First Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev and the Head of Donetsk Oblast State Administration Anatoliy Blyznyuk, as well as $3.7 billion to RosUkrEnergo.
Yulia Tymoshenko said that the current government has set many precedents that should become the subject of public inquiry by the Prosecutor General's Office on grounds of corruption.
"What must the Prosecutor General's Office now be engaged in? The Office must deal with real corruption cases, and not with the comedy that you have arranged here, "Yulia Tymoshenko said, commenting on the studio demonstration by the Prosecutor General's investigators of the Opel Combo cars acquired as a part of the government program "Rural Medicine” as a vehicle for increasing access to health services.
The ex-premier stressed that Opel Combo cars are not vehicles that qualify as "first aid". "A mobile intensive care unit costs 200,000 euros," she said, pointing out that the cars purchased by her government cost 12,500 euros each.
"Stop falsifying the case, stop acting as PR-agents of the authorities, because your place is not here in the studio, but your place is at the investigator’s office, where you should be investigating real corruption," urged Yulia Tymoshenko.
