Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko believes President Viktor
Yanukovych’s participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos will
bring nothing to the Ukrainian economy.
"Ukraine is not trusted today and Yanukovych’s trip to Davos is essentially money wasted because he doesn’t have the authority to attract investment to Ukraine at such forums as Davos," Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists in front of to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Yulia Tymoshenko pointed out that the current government’s economic policy led to a drop in Ukraine’s international ratings.
"The president of Ukraine went to Davos on the backdrop of unprecedented corruption in Ukraine, on the backdrop of the fact that key international agencies lowered Ukraine’s economic freedoms rating by 12 positions and Ukraine is now in last place in Europe and one of the lowest in the world. He went to Davos on the backdrop of the fact that in comparison with 2008, the last year before the crisis, foreign investment in Ukraine has fallen more than twofold. This suggests that the last economic freedoms and conditions for investment, including by major international companies, have been destroyed in Ukraine," Yulia Tymoshenko said.
