Ukraine intends to offer the EBRD participation in its investment projects

“Ukraine highly appreciates the cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and is ready to develop it further," President Yanukovych said at the meeting with EBRD President Thomas Mirow, presidential press office reported. 

"We are generally pleased with the level of partnership relations with the EBRD,” he said, “We wish that you continued the Shelter program, and that we could discuss increasing the Shelter Fund.” 

He noted that new donors could be invited to the process and the relevant work could be conducted in the framework of the International Conference "25 Years since the Chernobyl disaster. Security of the future. 

In this connection President Yanukovych thanked Thomas Mirow for the consent to take part in the preparation and financing of the conference. 

“Our further relations with the EBRD we consider strategic," Viktor Yanukovych said, adding that Ukraine intends to offer the EBRD participation in its investment projects. 

He reminded that the EBRD had contributed to implementing 200 investment projects in Ukraine. "Thanks to cooperation with you, we are gradually restoring stability of the Ukrainian financial system," said. 

Viktor Yanukovych stressed that due political stability and reforms launched in 2010, Ukraine managed to get positive economic and financial results. In particular, GDP growth was about 4,5%, industrial production – about 11% and exports – about 30%. 

"The reforms, which were started in Ukraine, now have trust of our partners in the world," he said, adding that evidence to this are the improving credit ratings of Ukraine. 

He also drew attention to the restoration of cooperation with the IMF, which also positively influenced the development of national economy and improvement of the image of our country in the world. 

"In 2011 we will continue to modernize the economy and other areas of life of our country. There will be reforms launched on 21 different directions," Viktor Yanukovych said. 

"Cooperation with our partners and trust in Ukraine are very important for us... The reforms are also aimed at increasing confidence in our country in the whole world," Viktor Yanukovych said. 

For his part, the EBRD President expressed satisfaction with the stabilization of political and economic situation in Ukraine. In particular, he praised the resumption of cooperation of our country with the IMF and other partners. 

"We still consider Ukraine a very important strategic partner and are ready to continue the investment policy at a high level," he said. 

Thomas Mirow also confirmed his intention to take part in the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster conference. "I will personally supervise the preparations on our side," he said.
