Turkey and Ukraine have agreed to begin the process of lifting visa requirements, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"Our joint decision to sign the agreement on lifting visa requirements is the core of significant intensification of our trade and economic relations, creating conditions for businesses, our citizens, tourists, to move freely through the territories of Ukraine and Turkey," he said.

President Yanukovych noted that the work on a readmission agreement also continues.

Speaking about cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey in the military-industrial complex, Viktor Yanukovych stressed that the scope is "very broad". "At this moment the AN-148 project is being considered by the Turkish side; there is cooperation in the preparation of Turkish tank project, in which Ukraine takes part. There is also elaboration of a missile system that would meet the requirements of the Turkish side, we are currently working on, there are other questions," he said.

Viktor Yanukovych said that Ukraine and Turkey will continue cooperation in the aerospace industry. In February this year, a Turkish satellite will be launched using the Ukrainian launch vehicle. "In February 2011, Turkey plans to launch the Rasat satellite, using the Dnipro rocket," he said.
