President Yanukovych meeting Japan Business Federation Chairman

President Viktor Yanukovych met with Chairman of the Japan Business Federation "Nippon Keidanren" Hiromasa Yonekura. 

Speaking at the meeting, Viktor Yanukovych said that the President and the Government of Ukraine will create all the conditions for successful cooperation between business circles of both countries. He stressed that Ukraine attaches primary importance to developing economic relations with Japan, and that cooperation with the Federation is a significant factor of boosting them. 

In 2010, the trade turnover between Ukraine and Japan has increased 44%. This growth shows the attractiveness of the Ukrainian market for Japanese companies and vice versa. The sides have expressed a common opinion that the potential of trade and economic relations is not fully used. 

Viktor Yanukovych expressed confidence that the agreements to remove barriers to development of bilateral trade and investment will soon be signed. For its part, Ukraine is ready to improve the legislative framework in order to make the conditions for attracting investments more attractive, he said. 

Hiromasa Yonekura said that Japan is carefully monitoring the policy pursued by Ukraine, and the course on economic development chosen by the President of Ukraine. 

The Japan Business Federation Chairman expressed interest in developing trade and economic relations and mutual investment between Ukraine and Japan. Hiromasa Yonekura said that the signature of the Ukrainian-Japanese Investment Protection Agreement gives hope to increase business activity and investment. 

During the meeting, sides have also discussed investment in the agricultural sector of Ukraine. It was noted that such investment is becoming especially important for fighting global food crisis. 

The parties have also discussed prospects of investment in the projects related to preparation for Euro 2012 in Ukraine.
