The Prosecutor General’s Office should investigate crimes involving the
excessive emission of money and transfer of funds to offshore zones,
Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said.
"The first thing I will do is write a statement about a crime. We will present facts regarding the amount of money being issued and moved offshore, because this is an open crime being committed with President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych in charge," Yulia Tymoshenko said today before going to the prosecutor’s office, accoding to Yulia Tymoshenko's official website.
According to Yulia Tymoshenko, in 2010 the National Bank printed 99.7 billion hryvnias.
"So that you can understand what this figure means, I’ll point out that the revenues of the main and special funds of the State Budget in 2010 were approximately 230 billion hryvnias. This means that nearly half the budget was printed money," she said.
Yulia Tymoshenko also said that $28.7 billion was transferred from Ukraine to offshore zones, including $26.5 billion to Cyprus, during 2010. "In a normal democratic country, where there is no corruption, can it be that in 2010 the amount of money issued and moved offshore is equal to the total state budget revenues for that year?"
