Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed amendments to the legislation regarding the improvement of the provisions of a ban on gambling business in Ukraine, which were adopted by parliament on December 22, 2010.
The amendments to the law on police, the Criminal Code and the law on a ban on gambling business in Ukraine are aimed at improving the mechanism for implementing the ban on gambling business regarding the fulfillment by police officers of their duties.
The Criminal Code now has an article foreseeing that illegal gambling is punished by a fine of 10 to 50,000 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (from UAH 170 to UAH 500,000, or from USD 21 to USD 62,000). Repeated violations foresee imprisonment of up to five years, UKRINFORM reports.
