President Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine expects constructive proposals from opposition, he was speaking Sunday for the 1+1 TV Channel, according to UKRINFORM.

"We are keen to receive alternative proposals. But, unfortunately, I have not received any offers, the real ones, from the opposition government, except for politicking and criticism," he said.

The president stressed his willingness to cooperate with the opposition, but not making "show" of this.

Yanukovych said that he constantly meets with opposition, during which acute issues are discussed. "On some of them I am ready to compromise, to seek solutions," he said. Asked by reporters whom exactly the president had met with, he said: "With everyone, except for Tymoshenko. With representatives of many political forces".

"Some of the opposition politicians do not want to highlight that there are such contacts with the President. I frankly tell you, as it is. I do not want to create for them inconveniences and impose conditions," Yanukovych emphasized.

The head of state also commented on the situation involving the leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko. He wants her to "find ways to protect herself" during the investigation and trial in a criminal case brought against her by the Prosecutor General's Office.

The president noted that he is very interested in the transparency of the judicial process in this case. "I'm interested in it more than anyone else," Yanukovych said, stressing that in this case there is no "one hundredth percent of politics".
