The authorities are fabricating reasons to persecute members of the
previous government in order to destroy the cohesiveness of the
opposition team, Yulia Tymoshenko said, according to her official website.
"An expert needs one minute to see that there was no transfer of environmental funds. They’re saying that environmental funds were spent on pensions. Pensions were paid, but not with environmental funds," Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists today outside the main investigation department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, where she had been summoned in connection with the unauthorized use of funds Ukraine received under the Kyoto Protocol.
"All the environmental funds are in accounts at the environment ministry and are at the government’s disposal," Yulia Tymoshenko said.
The former prime minister also said that the authorities have reopened a criminal investigation into Andriy Shkil’s involvement in the "Ukraine without Kuchma" movement and detained former Minister of Environmental Protection Heorhiy Filipchuk.
"They’re doing this because they can’t find anything legitimate. I think this is characteristic of this government," she said.
"They have illegally detained members of our team – Ihor Didenko, Anatoliy Makarenko and others who worked for Naftohaz Ukrainy and the customs service - because they helped return to Ukraine the natural gas that RosUkrEnergo had illegally taken. The clans today are simply seeking revenge because we took what didn’t belong to them and returned it to Ukraine," Yulia Tymoshenko added.
