The introduction of administrative reforms by the Party of Regions is
only the first step through which the authorities are trying to get rid
of their "politically unreliable" partners in the executive branch,
Yulia Tymoshenko said.
"They so loudly announced that they’re reducing the number of
government officials and are now getting rid of all the senior officials
who are not from the Party of Regions; this concerns not only the
opposition, but also members of the coalition. I think that you have
already noticed that representatives of Lytvyn, the communist party and
other political forces have disappeared from the government. There is an
on-going political cleanup in the government under the slogan of
administrative reform," Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists at the
Verkhovna Rada.
The leader of the Batkivshchyna party says the pro-regime Party of
Regions is "cleaning out" the political field in order to obtain a
complete monopoly over power and make exercising public control over
their actions impossible.
"A powerful force system is being created that will replace civil
society. If money is given to power structures and administrative
resources and taken away from civil society and local government, as is
the case with this budget, then, of course, this leads to a bias towards
authoritarianism and governing through the use of force," Yulia
Tymoshenko said.
