NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine got partial guarantees from OJSC Gazprom on natural gas transit via Ukraine's territory to the volume of no less than 112 million cu m per year over five years, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko told during a working meeting in Sumy region.

"A document was signed according to which we got if not 100% guarantee, but more confident position for next five years," he said, UKRINFORM reported.

At the same time, Boyko noted that Gazprom extended an advance payment to Naftogaz to the mount of USD 1.5 billion for transit services.

"The fixed figure on transit is 112 billion cu m annually. And if less gas is transported, the advance payment of USD 1.5 billion will be returned over a longer period than five years," the minister added.

As it was reported, Naftogaz of Ukraine for a long time insisted on fixing in agreements with Gazprom the minimum gas transit volumes via Ukraine's territory.

Earlier, Naftogaz of Ukraine forecasted that in 2011 gas transit volumes to Europe are expected at 94.2 billion cu m.

In 2009, Ukraine cut natural gas transit to the European countries by 20.4% or by 24.4 billion cu m against 2008 to 95.2 billion cu m.
