President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has arrived in Brussels, Belgium to take part in the Fourteenth EU - Ukraine Summit.

On the porch of the Val Duchesse residence, where the Summit is held, President Yanukovych was welcomed by European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman van Rompuy. After the welcoming ceremony, their private meeting has begun.

Then, the parties will take part in plenary meeting of EU-Ukraine and sign bilateral documents.

In addition, it is expected that during the summit a trilateral meeting will be held with representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the European Union, where the parties will discuss prospects for modernization of the Ukrainian gas transport system.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president said that he was confident that the Ukrainian side would quickly implement the action plan to introduce visa-free regime with European Union countries, which will be signed at the summit.

Yanukovych once again stressed that the Ukrainian side expects to get EU's approval of the Action Plan for the introduction of visa requirements for short trips of Ukrainian citizens.

Ukraine hopes that the visa abolition agreement will be signed with the EU for the European Football Championship in 2012.
