Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of the Batkivshchyna party, has announced that her political force will provide organizational support to small business owners in their initiatives against the government’s tax code.

"We are your tools and helpers, but we are not your organizers. We will join your ultimatum and will gladly put our signatures on it and will enlist all our party’s organizational channels to help you collect signatures for this ultimatum and for your appeal to the international community," Yulia Tymoshenko said during a meeting between the opposition government and representatives of those small business owners who were protesting outside the Verkhovna Rada against the government’s tax code.

She also declared that her political team supports protesters' demand for the president to veto the tax code in case of its adoption. According to Tymoshenko, if Yanukovych ignores this demand the opposition and small business representatives will collect signatures to hold a referendum to dismiss the parliament and president.

"Members of the opposition government and me personally approve this proposal. If the tax code is signed, signatures must immediately be collected to hold a referendum on early presidential and parliamentary elections," she said.

Small and medium business owners have approved an ultimatum which calls on local councils to hold special sessions to assess the draft tax code. Its authors also demand that the officials who drafted the tax code, inluding Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Tihipko and the head of the State Committee for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship Mykhailo Bordsky, be dismissed.

They also ask President Viktor Yanukovych to veto the tax code if it passes through parliament.
