In his closing remarks at the meeting on social-economic development
of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, President Viktor Yanukovych said that
Ukraine is preparing for the administrative reform.
"We are preparing the administrative reform – we want to organize the system of government in Ukraine," he said, pointing to the need to remove the overlapping of functions in the executive power, according to the presidential press office.
Viktor Yanukovych also emphasized that the administrative reform involves transferring some functions of the central authorities to the regions. "We must ensure that central government does not try to manage, for example, residential services and other local issues," he said.
"I am sure that the views of local government and local administrations will be taken into account during this reform," Viktor Yanukovych said.
