Ukraine needs land reform, Viktor Yanukovych said at the meeting of the Regional Committee on Economic Reforms in Rivne, presidential press office reported.
"I will soon initiate land reform, which should make the sale of land transparent, and the price – fair," he said, emphasizing that the pricing for land should be market.
The President also said it would be reasonable to conduct public hearings on land reform, expressing also the hoped that relevant initiatives would be realized soon.
Addressing the local authorities, the President drew their attention to the importance of creating a system of investors’ support in the regions, so that they could quickly pass registration procedures, buy land for construction and get access to all the necessary communications.
"We should move forward step by step through modernization of our country," Viktor Yanukovych said, emphasizing in this context the importance of fighting corruption effectively.
According to President Yanukovych, "a handful of officials have created a system that humiliates our country today and does not allow it to evolve”.
"This must be put an end to, both on the ground and in the center," summed Viktor Yanukovych.
