Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has ordered the State Guard Department and other law enforcement agencies to immediately check reports from the BYT's press service concerning threatening phone calls being made to Leader of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko.

"The president ordered Tymoshenko's security to be strengthened during the investigation," the president's press service informed on Friday, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

Earlier, Leader of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko announced that she received a phone call from a Russian-speaking man who threatened that "she would regret her visit to Brussels and a resolution adopted by the assembly of the European People's Party," the BYT's press service reported on Thursday.

"I've just received a phone call from an unknown man, who in Russian said that no one would let me humiliate Viktor Fedorovych [Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych] abroad. This man claimed that I would remember my visit to Brussels for a long time, and regret that the European People's Party adopted a resolution with sharp criticism of Yanukovych. He also said that I would 'spit blood' that Oleksandr Turchynov's detention would be a result - and this is just the beginning. This man also advised me next time think carefully before doing anything like this again," the press service quoted Tymoshenko as saying.
