Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, currently on a state visit to Beijing, stressed at a meeting with China's President Hu Jintao that Ukraine "for many years has been watching you are building a modern strong state with great interest", UKRINFORM reported.
Yanukovych thanked the PRC leadership for "consistency and persistence in carrying out joint decisions taken by the leaders of Ukraine and China at a meeting in Washington," which took place on April 12, 2010 as part of the Summit on Nuclear Security.
In turn, President Jintao stressed that the Chinese people highly appreciate the policy of strengthening relations with China, proclaimed by President Yanukovych, which the Ukrainian president has identified as one of the priorities of Ukrainian foreign policy.
The Chinese president expressed his confidence that this visit will serve a strong impetus for further development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and bring these relations to a qualitatively new level.
