President Viktor Yanukovych wrote a letter to UEFA President Michel Platini, in which he described the process of preparation to Euro 2012, presidential press office reported.
"The chance to host Euro 2012 finals is a great honor for our state;
just as quality and proper organization of the competition is a
nationwide indisputable priority," Viktor Yanukovych said in the letter.
“The fact that we have caught up with the backlog of works at the
infrastructure facilities and returned to well-managed overall process
of preparation proves our intentions. However, we accept constructive
criticism and wish to resolve any potential problems and threats that
may arise during preparations for the championship in advance,” he said
Viktor Yanukovych pointed out that he and the Government continue to
provide the maximum of support to preparation and holding Euro 2012
finals.
“We affirm that the UEFA generalized schedule of
completion of basic infrastructure projects mentioned in your letter of
18 June 2010, is acceptable with one clarification regarding the
airfield complex in Kharkov: because of the construction of a new
runway, the date of putting the airport into operation was postponed to
December 30, 2011.
I would appreciate you accepting my
invitation and visited Ukraine soon to personally witness the progress
in preparation for the tournament," Viktor Yanukovych said.
