The WBO, IBF heavyweight champion fight between IBF, WBO and IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine and IBF mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin of Russia has been cancelled due to organizational reasons, UKRINFORM reported.
Povetkin did not attend the first press conference dedicated to the match, which took place in Frankfurt am Main on Monday. It was announced that the Russian boxer had a nasal sinus disease.
Moreover, the Povetkin failed to sign in due time a contract for the bout, which is a violation of IBF regulations. The IBF decided to exclude Povetkin from the IBF TOP10 rankings.
On September 11 Wladimir will battle another boxer, most likely Nigerian Samuel Peter.
