Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov met with European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn. Azarov noted that cooperation with the European Union is a priority for Ukraine.

"For us, relations with the EU are the priority. The President and the Head of the Government devote considerable attention to our bilateral relations," he said. The Prime Minister stressed that negotiations on the agreement on associated membership of Ukraine in the EU, including free trade area and visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union are going in dynamic.

However, Ukraine sees the need to expand the dialogue to include the issues on which there are different positions and opinions. Thus, Ukraine's government is concerned about Romania's decision to expand the Danube Delta, taken unilaterally, without negotiations with Ukraine. "We are concerned about the position of Romania, which had unilaterally been working on expanding the delta of the Danube in order to redirect traffic to its ports. We want to draw your attention to the fact that such issues should be resolved through bilateral negotiations and, if necessary, with the participation of European Commission heads," the PM said.

"We have already initiated discussions with MFA of real opportunities that will help to find acceptable solution for both Ukrainian and Romanian side in matters relating to the Danube delta," the Commissioner of the European Commission said.

They discussed ways to implement the initiatives of the EU for cooperation in the Crimea, which will include social infrastructure development, modernization of the tourism industry and the investment attractiveness of Sevastopol raise to attract foreign direct investment in the infrastructure of the city.

According to the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the EC Delegation to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira, who participated in the meeting, 13 EU countries are already involved in the realization of the Crimean project, which the EU considers very important. In addition, the Ambassador Teixeira said that the EU agreed with the proposal of the President of Ukraine to consider cooperation in the Crimean region as a pilot program of "Eastern Partnership".
