Prime Minister of Ukraine
Mykola
Azarov noted the need for deep systemic reforms, as the economic
potential,
inherited from the Soviet Union, has been exhausted.
This Mykola Azarov said
today
during his speech at the ceremonial meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of
Ukraine on the occasion of the 20th
anniversary of the Declaration
on State Sovereignty of Ukraine.
"Ukraine faces big
historic challenge. We have determined that
the old
capacity, we received as legacy, has exhausted. The world financial
crisis has
shown us the need for fundamental review of all spheres of the economy. Covering 10 years Ukraine
can
stabilize the situation, carry out deep systemic reforms to modernize
the
economy and social relations and become closer to European standards of
living," the Prime Minister said.
According to him, only after coming to power of the President Viktor Yanukovich and the new Government it became possible to clearly identify internal and external priorities of Ukraine, in particular, Law of Ukraine "On the basis of foreign and domestic policy" and the reform programme of the President of Ukraine were adopted.
"Now Ukraine has single strong power that can overcome the economic and political crisis, and it coincides with the milestones of the Declaration on State Sovereignty. Now everything fits together," Mykola Azarov emphasized.
