The Committee of Voters of Ukraine (CVU) is calling on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to invite OSCE observers in the local elections, the CVU press office reported on Thursday.

"Since it is less than four months to the local elections, and the preparation of the mission requires a certain amount of time and efforts, the CVU calls upon the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in the near future to send an invitation to the OSCE," the organization noted, UKRINFORM reported.

At the same time, the committee stressed that according to experts, the local elections in Ukraine will face violations of law, the use of administrative pressure, bribery of voters. "And a short time of the campaign can lead to poor quality of the electoral process," reads the report.

The committee also stated that the failure to invite OSCE observers timely can be viewed in Ukraine and abroad as a lack of political will of the Ukrainian authorities to ensure a democratic and transparent electoral process.

On July 13, the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada on calling a regular election of deputies of city councils and village, township, and city mayors in 2010 came into force. According to the decision, the election of local self-government in Ukraine will take place on October 31.
