President Viktor Yanukovych thinks modernization of the national gas
pipeline system is extremely important, he said in an interview in
Sumy, according to presidential press office.
"We must modernize our gas transport system in order to improve its reliability and have the opportunity to increase volumes of the pumped gas. If consumers declare their whish to buy more and suppliers, which are Russia and Asian countries, agree to deliver more, Ukraine, being a transit country must have the capability to transport more,” said Viktor Yanukovych.
According to the Head of State, it is Ukraine, who is interested foremost in modernization of the gas transport system. "We are interested in this. But it is to early to say in what shape it will happen," said Viktor Yanukovych.
President Yanukovych also expressed belief the Ukraine is interested in involving both the consumers and the suppliers in modernization of its gas transport system. He stressed that such investments will be beneficial for the economy of Ukraine.
