Prime Minister Mykola Azarov called the European
Union for mutual concessions while setting up a free trade zone between
Ukraine
and the EU. He said this today in Luxembourg during a joint
press
conference with Vice-President of the European Commission, EU High
Representative for Foreign Affaires and
Security
Policy Catherine Ashton.
"I called today Mrs.
Ashton for mutual concessions and compromise: somewhere we make
concessions,
somewhere we expect that the EU will come to terms with us, so we must
meet
halfway," he said.
In her turn, Catherine
Ashton said that the signing of an association and free trade agreement would double the export of goods from Ukraine
to the European Union. She also called on the Ukrainian side to continue
the work
with the EU to develop a plan regarding the implementation of a visa
free regime
between Ukraine
and the EU.
