Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, in an interview with the Inter TV channel on Sunday, confirmed the receipt by Ukraine of a USD 2 billion loan from Russia.

He said that there currently were "three objects on which active cooperation is being maintained." "This is the construction of two nuclear reactors in Khmelnytsky and Rivne, as well as the construction of a nuclear fuel production plant," Yanukovych said, according to UKRINFORM.

"As for the construction of the nuclear reactors, they will be built by Ukraine on its own, and this is only the use of a financial loan, a service which Russia has agreed to provide," he said.

The head of state also noted that Ukraine was currently in talks on the development of uranium production with Russia and Kazakhstan. He reaffirmed Ukraine's readiness to become a "third party" in the construction by Kazakhstan and Russia of a plant on the production of fuel elements in Russia's Angarsk, and become "a co-owner of the plant in Angarsk." Yanukovych said that this plant would supply nuclear fuel to Ukraine.
