The Yanukovych government, in declaring the strengthening of friendly relations with Russia cares only about their personal gain, claims Yulia Tymoshenko, according to BYuT press office.

"Today on all the central television channels you can see the main propaganda line – that there is finally friendship, cooperation and real work between Ukraine and Russia. I can tell you that this isn’t friendship, it’s not cooperation and mutually beneficial work. This is a special agreement to make tens of billions in private profits from Ukraine’s state resources. That’s the essence of this cooperation," Yulia Tymoshenko said during a press conference in Kherson.

Yulia Tymoshenko believes that cooperation between Ukraine and Russia should be on mutually beneficial terms. "Every politician who wisely wants to develop the country supports cooperation between Ukraine and Russia, but cooperation on mutually beneficial and equal terms, that brings both countries additional opportunities, and not additional opportunities for one country and loss for the other of even those opportunities that remained after the previous ten years of rule by Kuchma’s gang and Yanukovych," she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko is categorically against cooperation with Russia that is disadvantageous for Ukraine, particularly the creation of joint ventures in strategic sectors of the Ukrainian economy. "I am categorically against the creation of such joint ventures, categorically against cooperation that consumes Ukraine. I consider these unfriendly steps towards Ukraine."

At the same time, Yulia Tymoshenko noted that Russia should not be blamed for the Ukrainian government’s policy. "Can you blame Russia that such projects are being carried out in Ukraine? Of course not. Russia is defending its national interests, its profits, wants to multiply them, and expand its sphere of influence. I don’t understand why the Ukrainian president is agreeing to this. If it’s solely for personal gain, then this is a great evil against Ukraine, and sooner or later history will be the judge."
