The European Union  carries out active negotiations with Ukraine to sign the Association Agreement, a draft of which may be considered in Brussels in mid-June this year.

European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Stefan Fule said this at a press conference in Sopot, Poland, after an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers with the heads of the foreign ministers of the Eastern Partnership member-countries, in particular, Ukraine, according UKRINFORM.

He said the parties are at the stage of developing a specific plan of action for the Association Agreement with Ukraine, the consideration of which must start in Brussels in mid-June. At the same time, he voiced hope that by the autumn summit Ukraine-EU, it will be possible to approve a plan of action for abolition of visas for the Ukrainians," Fule said.

However, he noted that the timing of abolition of visas will depend on the Ukrainian side and the speed of execution by Kyiv of its "homework" related to realization of this goal.

Fule reported that the programs under the Eastern Partnership frames will be implemented starting from 2010. This initiative was launched a year ago, and it will take some time to connect projects with the funds necessary for their implementation. The first project will be implemented in the second half of this year, and more active implementation is expected in 2011-2013, the commissioner said.
