Ukraine’s new government will never surrender control of strategic economic assets namely Naftogaz Ukraine, Kostyantyn Hryshchenko, the Ukrainian foreign minister, said in an interview with the Financial Times.
“We’ve said we will look into it, but obviously there would be major difficulties in full integration of the two companies. We are not about to abandon control of Naftogaz,” Hryshchenko said.
Hryshchenko said Ukraine is ready to enter an agreement which would meet the country's interests and guarantee control over assets on its own territory.
“We would only enter into agreements that would serve our interests, and that would have built-in guarantees of control over assets that are on our territory and are an important element of our overall economic development,” he added.
