President Viktor Yanukovych held a meeting of the Coordinating Council
for celebration of the 65th anniversary of Victory in the
Great Patriotic War of 1941 - 1945, presidential press office reported.
Opening the meeting Viktor
Yanukovych said that "all the questions to be considered should
be considered and resolved in these few remaining days."
Prime
Minister Mykola Azarov informed that the Government has fulfilled
Presidential Decree "On additional measures to celebrate the 65th
anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" almost
fully. He stressed that the organizing committee is constantly
monitoring performance of its key points. In particular, the one-time
aid, which was doubled compared to previous years, has already been paid
to veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
The Cabinet also
approved the decision to provide apartments for disabled veterans
of the 1st category.
Summing up the meeting the President
again reminded about the tasks to be resolved during the time remaining
to the May 9. "We will never betray our veterans and the memory of those
who brought victory to our land," he said and expressed confidence that
all the planned ceremonial events would be held at the highest level.
The President also suggested returning military hospitals under
the patronage of Regional Administrations Heads and reopening wards for
veterans of the Great Patriotic War, where they were closed.
"We must reactivate such wards at hospitals of each locality. Every
hospital should provide full care to veterans," said Viktor Yanukovych.
