Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the united democratic opposition, believes the 2012 parliamentary elections will give Ukraine a chance for rebirth.
"I think the Lord left Ukraine a chance in 2012, when the next parliamentary elections will be held, to change everything that people don’t like about their country. And the country now has a chance to understand who Yanukovych really is and who from among the opposition politicians is sincere. This offers a chance to revive the country with an absolute victory in the parliamentary elections, so that an honest majority is formed," Yulia Tymoshenko said in an interview with the magazine Korrespondent, Tymoshenko's official website reported.
Yulia Tymoshenko added that she has no plans to sit back and relax. "No real general leaves the battlefield. We don’t just have a battlefield, we have an emergency room responsible for the life of 46 million Ukrainians, and this emergency room can’t be left without professional help."
"I will never do this. There is no such weakness even in the depth of my soul," she said.
Ukraine now has a chance to understand who Viktor Yanukovych really is, believes Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the united democratic opposition.
"Right now I wonder if I had won the election, where would be the guarantee that after the first few months of establishing order in this country (I had my mind set on this) that an anti-presidential majority wouldn’t have been created instantly in parliament to counter these changes," Yulia Tymoshenko told Korrespondent.
In her opinion, the new government doesn’t need changes. "They don’t live by honest rules because they cause them to wither and die. They don’t need a European country, because in a European country politicians must be honest people. But in their minds, what’s the sense of power then," said the opposition leader.
This is why Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the same government headed by Mykola Azarov could have appeared "and then we could have said goodbye to Ukraine’s chances of becoming a democratic country."
"The goal of my life is to see a beautiful Ukraine. To betray this goal for me is equivalent to suicide," Yulia Tymoshenko said in an interview.
According to the opposition leader, she dreams that the country will start to be reborn.
"I want everyone to do their job – for honest politicians to revive the country, for journalists to not allow lawlessness to take hold, for citizens, having received adequate information, to defend their country and make the right choice in 2012. And everything will fall into place. And what was unfortunately ruined after the Orange Revolution will happen – the soul of the people will wake up again," she said.
