President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has arrived in Kazakhstan on the
one-day official visit.
Upon arrival, he had a brief conversation with Kazakh officials, who greeted him at the airport, then they left for the Palace of Peace and Accord.
At the beginning of his tete-a-tete meeting with the President of Ukraine, Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated Viktor Yanukovych on his victory in presidential elections.
"I know you assumed the office of President in difficult times. Everything that could be destroyed, was destroyed in fact", said the Kazakh President.
From his part Viktor Yanukovych said that former authorities "confused democracy with chaos. Not only for me, but for all Ukrainian people it was a tragic page in history. The system of state government is unbalanced, economy is in recession ... But we are not in panic".
Nursultan Nazarbayev suggested that Ukraine should restore normal relations with its partners and reach a new level of trade and economic cooperation. "We will be working on specific interaction, and fill our cooperation with new content and projects", said the Kazakh President.
Viktor Yanukovych said: "Before your visit to Ukraine it would be good if our Governments, business representatives and managers prepared specific proposals to enhance interaction, enriching our cooperation with specific content and projects”.
"What you do in Kazakhstan is a great example for the Ukrainians. I mean the program of development of Kazakhstan until 2020. We can adopt a positive experience and, of course, share it”, said President Yanukovych.
The Kazakh President noted that he would tell his Ukrainian colleague about this program in more detail. He also said he is familiar with the intentions of the President of Ukraine to develop his own development plan for Ukraine until 2020 involving the best national and foreign specialists.
