The united democratic coalition headed by Yulia Tymoshenko will insist that the next Friday of a plenary week the Cabinet of Ministers report to the Verkhovna Rada on the Ukraine-Russia gas talks.

"We will propose that on Friday, April 2, Minister of Fuel and Energy Yuriy Boyko report on that gas talks that were held in Moscow this week," said Mykola Tomenko, one of the leaders of BYuT and deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, according to Tymoshenko's official website.

He suggested that if Russia lowers its price for gas, Ukraine will be forced to cede its independence. "I wonder if there were proposals for political loyalty along the so-called principle of cheap gas for independence," he said.

According to Mykola Tomenko, parliamentary procedures require that every Friday of a plenary week, 10-11am is assigned for questions to members of the Cabinet of Ministers. It is during this ‘question hour’ that the opposition proposes hearing the report on the gas talks.

This ‘question hour’ for the government will be held every Friday, in accordance with parliamentary procedures.
