Viktor Yanukovych met with European Parliament delegation, headed by Vice-Chair of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament Adrian Severin, according to presidential press office.

At the meeting sides have discussed speeding introduction of visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens.

The President noted that he had welcomed the decision of the EP to recognize Ukraine’s right to aspire to EU membership and prospects for introduction of visa-free travel.

Viktor Yanukovych has stressed the need to accelerate the development of visa-free travel roadmap.

The President noted that the new Government's main efforts now are aimed at stabilizing the political and economic situation. "The coalition was formed in the Parliament, the new Government was appointed and local authorities are being re-staffed", he said, adding that the process of shaping the new system of governance in Ukraine would be complete by the end of March.

The President has informed that the 2010 budget is being prepared now. "We intend to submit the draft budget to the Parliament already in April, and we will do all we can to have it considered and approved by the end of April", said Viktor Yanukovych.

The parties have also discussed the situation with the Constitutional Court’s consideration of legitimacy of parliamentary coalition. "If the Constitutional Court resolves that the coalition was formed illegally, I will announce early elections. I will not violate the existing Constitution under any circumstances", emphasized the President of Ukraine.

In his turn Adrian Severin said: "We are your friends, your true and old friends. And this friendship allowed us to come here so soon.

Good thing we did not have to reassess our position toward the political processes taking place in Ukraine, and we all wish to express our support to you and the political leadership of Ukraine.

Your promises are considerate, and thus, there are more expectations that they will be fulfilled".

"We are pleased that you managed to create a coalition, which is now to address the urgent political and economic issues, and we hope that the Constitutional Court will adopt a decision that confirms the legality of the coalition.

Clearly, early elections could as well be a constitutional solution, but we are more pleased to see stability in the country, rather than early elections", said the Vice-Chair of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.
