President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych accepted credentials from Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov. The ceremony took place in the Presidential Administration hall, presidential press office reported.

Before handing of credentials Mikhail Zurabov addressed himself to Viktor Yanukovych in the Ukrainian language: “Dear Mr. President! Let me ascertain high respect to you and in your person to Ukrainian people. I wish you success at the post of President of Ukraine and Ukrainian people good life”.

Mikhail Zurabov recalled that in his inauguration speech Viktor Yanukovych said that enhancement of bilateral Ukrainian-Russian relations would become one of priorities of Ukraine’s foreign policy. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia assured the President of Ukraine that the Embassy of Russia in Ukraine and he personally would make every effort to develop good neighborly and partner relationship between two nations.

The Head of the Ukrainian state has underlined during a meeting with Mikhail Zurabov that Ukraine attaches great importance to relationship with Russia. “We will do everything possible so that in this difficult time our joint efforts would return relations between our countries to the level of strategic partnership”.

Viktor Yanukovych  wished Mikhail Zurabov success in his professional activity, fruitful and interesting work in Ukraine.
